WTF is not just a boxing gym fighting on the way to the top in NYC – we also fight to change the world.
We believe in empowerment through boxing by raising awareness for cancer, domestic violence, at-risk youth, and those in need. While many events are donation-based, we don’t care if you don’t have any money; show up anyway! Your support means everything! Additionally, 100% of proceeds generated by events are donated to a cause. Our events are action-packed and give everyone a chance to experience some of the best boxing fitness training, with multiple bad ass instructors – all who volunteer their time. Please read below for more information about the causes and our motivation behind it. We hope you’ll join us.
It Started with Jamie
The inspiration to do charity events came from Jamie Purzak. Jamie had developed Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare terminal bone cancer and wanted to take one last trip to Europe and marry her long-time boyfriend. Members, staff, friends, and family all came together to support Jamie to not only raise money for this one final trip of a lifetime; but also to raise awareness for the disease that ultimately took Jamie away from us. Jamie was a beautiful soul who taught us how to smile no matter how hard life gets. She came into WTF’s life at a time when we had lost focus of our priorities. Her strength of character and determination to stay positive in the face of adversity has been the inspiration that sparked our charitable movement.

In 2013, the police responded to 284,660 domestic violence incidents in NYC. Furthermore, domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness and often coincide in homes where child abuse is present. The Center Against Domestic Violence (CADV) helps provide shelter and security to end the cycle of domestic violence. In conjunction with CADV, Work Train Fight holds donation-based events where our members, non-members, and victims of domestic violence come to raise awareness while we box out domestic violence. ALL the donations go to the cause. Make sure you’re signed up for our newsletter to help support, also please check out CADV to help end domestic violence.
